The Blood and Light Vampire Series by Rue Volley

Happy Monday! Today I had the pleasure of talking to Rue Volley. Over the weekend and today Rue was posting pictures for her book series The Blood and Light Vampire Series on Facebook and man I have to tell you that this one picture well all the pictures actually screamed READ ME....... READ ME....... so I decided to dedicate this blog spot to Rue! Thanks Rue for the lovely pictures and the SWOON worthy guys!
HAPPY RUE DAY!
Book One
Rue Volley is a seventeen year old going on immortal. Her mother Grace is in Rolling River Asylum, after she mysteriously stopped speaking to anyone. Her father William is now absent from her life. The only person she thinks she has left is her annoying brother Kai, who tries to kill her with his lack of cooking skills. Kai convinces Rue that she needs to be more social and drags her to a party at Johnathan Graphs house. Little does Rue know that because of this one small change in her otherwise normal routine, her life as she knows it will never be the same. Rue is about to find out that she will never die and has to make the ever trecherous decision of which hot boy she will spend eternity with. She wants Johnathan Graph, really, really bad but she needs Joshua Barrington, a boy who does nothing but annoy her death. One boy wants to kill her and one will die to save her. Suddenly, although she has lost the core of the family that she has known, she has gained a new family, who desperately try to help mold her into what she will become. Rue struggles to learn who she is as she navigates through a new world of beings that seem to want to own her or destroy her completely. This story takes Rue on a wild ride from her hometown of Calvary, Minnesota to the gates of the immortal city of Valon...the birthplace of her decendants...immortals who believe that humans are nothing but cattle. What do you eat when blood grosses you out, but that's all you think about? Everything is such a big deal, except death...OMG.

Book Two
Book two in the Blood & Light Vampire series takes Rue, our teenage vampire, even deeper into the rabbit-hole that has become her life. This book introduces a deeper look into the vampire city of Valon, that all vampires derive from. It begins taking a darker turn as you are invited into their world and their lack of compassion for the human race and, even in some cases, a total disregard for their own kind. As
the story twists and turns, you are also introduced to two new vampires, Jonah & Lily. They are the  sister/brother team, who run a traveling carnival, luring unsuspecting humans into their lair, not only to seduce…but to feed upon.

Rue faces many dangers in this addition, not only from her own kind…but this new vampire breed…that of the rogues, who serve no one but themselves and their own desires. Rue also struggles with her want to be "normal", as she comes to terms with the fact that she is indeed a vampire of great importance. As she navigates her way through this, she is also coming to realize that Joshua Barrington has seduced her and perhaps stolen her heart.

Please join us as you find yourself sucked deeper into an epic story in the life of one girl, who has good intentions but may indeed be her own worst enemy. Book two is more graphic in nature…with language, sexual situations, and violence. Sure to make you laugh, cry…and realize that sometimes you find yourself standing at the corner of WTF and OMG.

Book Three
In this 3rd installment of the Blood & Light Vampire Series we follow Rue deep into the rabbit hole as she tries to fight her way out of "memory"...a purgatory of sorts for immortals, and the last place a vampire wants to find themselves trapped in. This 3rd year in the lives of these vampires takes a closer look at their ability to portal through mirrors, the spells they conjure and the love that becomes more intense between Rue & Joshua. In the end you will be left speechless as the story takes yet another twisted turn and leads you into book 4, “Clarity & Reason.”

Oil & water is psychological in nature and pushes the boundaries of what is real and what is illusion, as not everything is what it seems to be.
...how far can the mind bend, before it is broken?
Find out as you continue your journey with these vampires who bite.

Cover Reveal For Reaper by L. S. Murphy

Reaper
by L.S. Murphy
Release Date: January 7, 2013
Target Reader: Young Adult
Keywords: Urban Fantasy

Back of the Book:
There's no way sixteen year old Quincy Amarante will become the fifth grim reaper. None. Not over her shiny blue Mustang. Her Jimmy Choos. Or her dead body.

She’s supposed to enjoy her sophomore year, not learn about some freaky future Destiny says she has no choice but to fulfill.

It doesn’t take long for Quincy to realize the only way out of the game is to play along especially since Death can find her anyway, anywhere, anytime. And does.

Like when she’s reassuring her friends she wants nothing to do with former best friend Ben Moorland, who’s returned from god-knows-where, and fails. Miserably.

Instead of maintaining her coveted popularity status, Quincy’s goes down like the Titanic.

Maybe ... just maybe ... that’s okay.

It seems, perhaps, becoming a grim reaper isn’t just about the dead but more about a much needed shift in Quincy’s priorities—from who she thinks she wants to be to who she really is.

Untouched by Jus Accardo Blog Tour Stop

When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.

Untouched (Denazen #1.5)
Until he met Dez, Kale’s days were filled with violence and death. He was used as a weapon of destruction by the power hungry men of Denazen. He’s a Six. A person with an abnormal ability. Some people call them gifts, but not Kale. Kale’s touch means instant death.

But now there’s Dez, the girl he can touch, and they’re hunting down Sixes and warning them about Denazen. Kale is learning about the world outside captivity and trying to put his dark past behind him. But they underestimated how badly Denazen wanted him back.

When Dez sacrifices herself to save the new Six they’d rescued from falling into the corp’s hands, Kale is lost. Denazen has brought out its best to get the job done. Samsen, a nightmare from Kale’s past—the only person he’s ever truly feared—has come for them, and it soon becomes obvious he has his own twisted agenda.

Kale will need all his training to get Dez back and ensure they make it out, free—and alive. But will it be enough?

Touch, the first novel in the Denazen series, is set to re-release in mass market on June 12th (Complete with additional scenes from Kale’s POV!). You can pre-order your copy here

When a Six saved Kale’s life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she’d lose the one thing she’d give anything to keep… And as if it’s not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez's problems.

After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice—surrender to Denazen for the cure…or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn’t involve being bagged and tagged—or losing someone she loves—Dez keeps the poison a secret. But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there’s a traitor among them. Jade.

Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there’s any hope of proving Jade’s guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead...

Toxic (Denazen 2) hits shelves on September 11th 2012. As a thank you to those who pre-order, Jus is giving away a book plate and magnet of choice (Touch, Untouched, or Toxic) Get the details here.

My interview with Jus
Today we welcome Jus Accardo author of Touch and Untouched to A Diary Of A Book Addict. Jus thank you for stopping by and answering some questions. First I must say I have never read such an action packed book that had me on the edge of my seat. From the moment Kale was running in the woods to when Dez sacrificed herself to save Kale.

You have such a huge following and a lot of us Kale groupies wanted to ask you some questions. So here we go!

How did you come up with the story Touch?

It was totally random and spur of the moment! I was on line waiting for coffee, got this mini scene in my head, and POOF. Dez and kale were born. I started writing the next day, and a few weeks later, had the first draft J

Is there a reason why Kale can touch Dez and not affect her?

*whistles innocently*

What was going through Kale’s mind when he went back to the corporation?

dfd

Why was Dez so scared to use her powers at first?

Her ability causes her a lot of physical pain to use. It makes her sick. It really scared her… She’s trying to work past it though…

Will we see more of Alex in Toxic? Can you tell us a few things about Alex that we did not read about? I have this theory and the girls think I am crazy but I think Alex really truly loves Dez and is trying to get her back. He is a little selfish at times but I think deep down somewhere in his heart he loves Dez.

I have a soft spot for Alex, so yes, we will be seeing more of him. A lot more ;)

Can you tell us a few secrets about Dez and Kale?

Hmm… This is a tough one to do without spoilers…

Before Dez went out with Alex, she had a crush on Curd. Not a huge bomb, but it’s funny considering her reaction in TOUCH to Curd when he suggests they should have hooked up.

As for Kale… He really wants to know more about his mother and her ability—and also his father’s. Since it’s too late for his mother, he’s seriously thought about searching for his father.

Okay Jus here are a few rapid questions for you

Favorite book?
Ack… Totally impossible to pick just one. I have several comfort books though… A few being Nightlife by Rob Thurman, Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, and The Heavenly Horse from the Outermost West.

Favorite color?
Red

How many books are going to be in the series?
At the moment, there are three books and two novellas.

Can you give us a sneak peek of Toxic?
Hmm. Well, speaking of Alex, here’s a small Kale/Dez/Alex teaser:
“Stop!” I yelled, spreading my arms in front of Alex. Not for his sake, but for Kale’s. No matter how mad he was, he’d still feel guilty if he killed someone.

Maybe…

Reflexes sharp, Kale stopped with about two inches to spare. “What is he doing here?” The venom in his voice matched the angry twist of his lips and barely contained rage in his eyes. Instead of flicking his fingers—the Kale equivalent of a nervous twitch—his fists were balled and ready to go.

Okay. Maybe he wouldn’t feel guilty.

Carefully, I placed the palm of my hand against his chest and pushed back. He resisted at first, cool blue eyes filled with hate and trained on Alex. After a few long moments, he took a single step back. “Explain before I touch him.”

Jus thank you for taking the time to stop by and share Kale and Dez with us. I am looking forward to reading Untouched and Toxic ASAP!

Thank you for having me! This was so much fun T

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand Fact or Fiction Blog Tour

"I stood on the porch, trying not to look at the police cruisers parked in the driveway. And when I did look at them, I tried not to let the memories come. But that was like trying to stop water with your hands. Enough of it got through that you were going to get wet."

The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.

Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer. A time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunken class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.

Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet…

“How would you know I was there?”

His gaze locked on mine and I stilled, barely able to breathe. All trace of laughter disappeared from his expression. His stare was heavy to the point of paralyzing.

“My soul would recognize you and wake me.” His voice was gravelly and low, barely above a whisper, but it filled my ears and raced straight to my heart. I felt a keen familiarity with this moment and with Dylan himself. It was more than déjà vu. It was something inside me recognizing something inside him.

“I want to,” I answered, breathless and aching.
“Are you sure?”
I didn’t even have to think about his question. Our past was heartbreaking and our future uncertain. All we had was this moment. “Yes.”

Llama – Fact. When I was about thirteen, my parents got me a pet llama that we named Dolly. We brought her home in the back of our minivan and she sat still the entire ride. She was adorable and sweet and had the saddest eyes. I used to walk her around the neighborhood on a leash, like a dog – except taller. We tethered her to the yard one day and a car spooked her. When she tried to run, the rope got tangled and it snapped her leg. Surgery for that kind of animal, with the way she’d shattered the bone… we ended up putting her down. Oh yeah, this is a sad story, I forgot to tell you.

We never got another llama. Stuck to goats and chickens (eww, yuck, I know.) and even a husky for a while. Still, Dolly will always be the coolest pet I had. Which is why Whisper needed a pet that special.
I don’t know about you, but commercially speaking, when I hear “llama”, I think of Tina. She was Napolean Dynamite’s llama and he was always fussing at her to eat her food.

Please say you get the joke… #itsaplayonthename
I told myself it was nothing; fancy fabric couldn’t manifest a destiny any more than a person could fight it. But, although the sun still blazed with late afternoon heat, the day felt ominous. Or maybe it was me.
