“Stay put,” Gavin kissed me, his dark brown eyes burning into mine, then moved through the crowd toward the kitchen. I huddled down into the chair, grabbed a few pretzels from the table and shoved them in my mouth, hoping no one would take me out before he returned with the food. Still hungry, I moved on to the peanut bowl, then stopped when I spotted a gorgeous girl moving toward me. She slithered through the other guests, her eyes glued to mine, a curt smile on her face. I put the bowl down, stared back. She was a girl next door’s arch nemesis: movie star hair, full lips, big chest, and tiny waist. Eyes followed her as she made her way to me, the swing in her hips and tight-fitting dress capable of causing a car wreck. I sunk into my seat a little further, fascinated by her.

“Oh là là, I can’t believe Gavin hasn’t introduced us,” she said, draping herself on the table in front of me. “I’m Scarlet. Enchantée.” Her kitten eyelashes batted away, looking like they were getting quite a workout. “I’m his ex.”

“Oh,” I snapped out of it and leaned forward to offer her a handshake. “Nice to meet you, too.”

“I’m so glad he brought you to Paris. When I heard what was happening, I just had to meet you. We go way back and he’s told me all about you.”

“Has he?” I reached for my cigarettes. “I mean, I had no idea you were so close.”

“Well, you two have been pretty busy with this whole mess,” she giggled, took a cigarette for herself. Mesmerized by the way the smoke rolled off her sensual lips, I wasn’t sure what to say next. Gavin hadn’t told me anything about any of his exes—certainly not the curvaceous seductress who sat before me. “I’m so happy for you,” she broke my distraction. “It sounds like he’s crazy about you.”

“Yeah, he’s great,” I mumbled and gave her an awkward smile, observed her long chestnut locks and sultry ruby-red lips.

“Lucky girl. He’s amazing in the boudoir, n’est-ce pas?” She twisted around to peer at him, eying his backside as he stood next to Arianna in the kitchen, laughing, helping her serve plates and glasses. “So rough,” she took a long, slow drag off her cigarette—too long—eyes still on him. “It’s so pent up. I think that’s why it’s so good.” She turned back to me and winked.

“Excuse me?”

“Sorry,” she cooed, let some ashes fall into an ashtray. “We go way back.”

“Yeah, you said that.”

“Scarlet?” Gavin came from behind her. “What are you doing here? It’s been ages.” He looked over at me with food in hand and a wary look on his face. “I see you’ve met Camille.”

“Sure have. She’s a doll. I was just telling her how much history you and I have. It’s so nice to have you in town!”

“Yeah, it’s…been a while.”

Staring him down, I gestured toward the plate in his hand. “Mind if I eat?”

“Oh, no. Sorry, Arianna and I got talking.” He handed me what looked like roast duck and some sort of rich, creamy sauce.

“Well, I’ll let you two lovebirds be. We’ll catch up after the meeting, okay?” She winked at me once more, then kissed Gavin on both cheeks and squeezed his arm before she snuck away—an intimate exchange that made me sick.

“What was that all about?” He took her place on the table, leaned in toward me and rubbed the side of my leg.

“You tell me.”

“You look like you could give me a black eye right now; did she say something to you?”

“I think I’ve lost my appetite.” Dropping my fork, I stood and adjusted my coat, then made my way to the front door. The streets of Montmartre and a stiff drink were calling my name.

My Soul To Lose by Rachel Vincent

My Soul to Lose (Soul Screamers, #0.5)My Soul to Lose by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am reading The Series My Soul.... by Rachel Vincent with The Paranormal Group. I was told to read this novelette first to set up the first book and I am so glad I listened. It brings you the background story of Kaylee and her so called Panic attacks. I love how it went into how she feels right before she has a screaming spell and how her friend Emma stays with her and helps her all the way through.

The next book in the series starts out where this one finishes and I am looking forward to reading it. I am intrigued by her gift to sense when someone is going to die. I also hope that they tell us what happens to Lydia and Tyler? I am dying to find out.

Forever Lost In My Own World: ARC giveaway of 'Destiny'

Crossover (The Chosen One Trilogy, #1)

Life for Hayden Carlson had never been overly exciting and that was the way she liked it, so when she meets Jasper on a trail in the woods, it never occurs to her that life as she knows it is about to change. Suddenly, Hayden crosses over to a world she never would have dreamed existed and a future she never would have believed possible. Along the way, she discovers an affinity for magic; her ability to dream of the future and the craft of healing. She meets many beings that become her friends and family, as well as others who will try to capture her for her powers. Hayden must find a way to escape being captured, save the man she loves, and decide where she stands in the balance of good and evil.

Hayden has made up her mind. If she doesn't between the Namaels and the Majs then innocent beings won't die because of her. Of course, things can never be that simple and when she is taken prisoner by the humans a whole new problem arises. It doesn't take long before everything she thought she knew no longer makes sense. Could it be possible that the prophecy was wrong?

Destiny The Chosen One Trilogy December 2011

Rainen looked up in time to see my horse come crashing into the ground just a few feet away from her. Her eyes widened as she gazed into the sky.

“Hayden! Shield!”

I threw my shield out to cover everyone who was closest to me. I felt my energy touch Rainen’s and I glanced at her before looking up to see what had made the screeching sound in the sky. My first thought was about dropping my shield and to welcome the dragon flying over us. My second thought was that this was no dragon. The creature in question had to be to same size as Faren, the fire dragon I was bonded to, who was about thirty feet long. Well, the same length as Faren. Whatever this was it was lacking the bulk of a dragon. It looked more like a snake with wings and ten sets of legs. It was covered from head to tail in oily looking brown feathers.

I felt the push of magic come from up above and I pushed against it with my own. The energy receded as the creature flew past us. I started to pull back my shield and felt Rainen doing the same. The screeching sound came again. Rainen swore under her breath.

As the final battle draws near, Hayden must deal with personal loss, unexpected good news, and the usual attempts on her life. Was the prophecy right and can she do everything that is expected of her? Can she go through with her plan when just one mistake could wipe out everyone she loves?

New Must Read Series By Scott Prussing

Breathless

Breathless is a modern fantasy/romance novel in the mode of Twilight and Vampire Diaries, with enough new ideas to excite even the most devoted fans...

Weston College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That's when her mom started acting weird, insisting sunlight hurt her skin because she'd been bitten by a one-fanged vampire.

But fascinated doesn't mean Leesa believes. Any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill. But when her beloved older brother disappears after warning Leesa not to come looking for him, she is forced to consider all these and more.

She also has to figure out what to do about her mysterious new boyfriend. She knows Rave likes her a lot-so why won't he kiss her? And why is he always talking about vampires?
As Leesa draws closer to finding her brother, she faces some gut-wrenching decisions. Should she risk her mom's life trying to "cure" her? Should she continue seeing Rave, after he reveals his dangerous secret? And most terrifying of all, should she make the ultimate sacrifice-give up her humanity-to save her brother?

Here is the link for the trailer to Breathless: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D9ggTqcI3gGs%26feature%3Dyoutube_gdata&h=nAQCdFrds

Deathless is book two in The Blue Fire Saga, a paranormal romance series filled with passion, suspense and supernatural danger. Summary:

After rescuing her brother from the caverns of a vampire coven and helping to cure her mother of a vampire bite, Leesa Nyland hopes she’s done dealing with all things supernatural. All she wants to do now is enjoy college life—and to figure out how to kiss her vampire hunter boyfriend without his magical fire burning her to a crisp. She doesn’t think that’s too much to ask.

So she’s not too happy when she begins dreaming of rotting bodies emerging from their graves, and she likes it even less when the terrifying dreams begin to come true. When objects around her start moving seemingly on their own accord, she figures that’s more than enough. It’s a good thing she doesn’t know about the powerful vampire who has sworn vengeance against her…

Let's support our great authors by buying their books. With school back in session and Fall coming on what a great way to cozy up to the fireplace and read a great series. I know I am. My fireplace is getting cleaned on Friday and I am turning it on Friday night if it is cold. I will be reading both books and venturing into the world of Leesa.

Cover Reveal for Cold Blood Book 2 in the Dirty Blood Series!

Wood Point Academy is not at all what I expected. For one thing, it looks like a cross between military school and Buckingham Palace. Everyone stares, the floors shine so bright you can see your reflection in them from a mile away, and no one smiles. Unless they're kicking your butt in the process. Which happens more often than not for the freshman. Lucky for them, my presence has just stolen the spotlight, and they get a break from the daily joys of hazing.

At least I've got plenty to take my mind off the fact that my psycho cousin, Miles De'Luca, keeps calling and declaring his love and promising to come for me just as soon as he's destroyed anyone standing in our way. Wes isn't going to like that idea.

So between Miles, Wood Point's evil welcoming commitee, and the drill sergeant hottie trainer from hell, I just keep asking myself, how did I end up here?

Dirty Blood

She learns something about herself, that she is something that the clans have been waiting for. She rebels against it but, ultimately must face it for her new family's sake and maybe even her life. Bish went from being her biggest supporter to her biggest pain in the butt and Kyle's intentions to attract her interest may not be so innocent. Caleb and Maggie face many new obstacles together as a couple and on their own. They fight to work through them but will one that should be a good thing be too much for Maggie to handle? Will she become who she has to be to save the ones she loves or will she crumble under the pressure as this epic love story continues.

My favorite character is Kyle. I love him because he is so dam funny and snarky and smart all wrapped into one. Who wouldn't want a guy like that. He is so in love with Maggie that he can't see the bigger picture.

Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. Her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football schalorship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has. Then she meets Caleb. She saves his life and instantly knows there's something about him that's intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

Shelly has also so graciously offered to gift one e-copy of Significance. This is the first book of the series and if you have not read it you don't know what you are missing!

Megan Curd Forbidden: The Guardian Chronicles

Megan Curd

Megan Curd is a graduate of Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota. While having always enjoyed reading any books she could get her hands on, Megan didn’t begin writing until a friend encouraged her to do so while in college.

When not writing, Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Traveling and snowboarding are hobbies she loves, and doesn’t turn down the opportunity to play xBox with her brother and friends when it presents itself.

Megan currently resides in Eau Claire, Wisconsin with her husband, son, and two dogs.

She has a new series coming out called The Guardian Chronicles. The first book will be out November 15, 2011

Levi's job is to protect his human until it's their time to go. That's what a Guard does. He's done it for years on end, and he'll spend his eternity doing the same, mundane thing, following the same, mundane rules.

...Watch from afar.
...Never share your name.
...And above all, never touch a human.

What Levi doesn't know is that his newest human to protect, Hannah, just might be the catalyst to tipping the scales between good and evil, and he will be forced to decide which side he belongs to. Which friends will he side with, and who will he ultimately protect: his human, or the delicate balance that hangs on stopping the heartbeat of the person he has sworn to protect?

And, when you're already condemned, what's there to lose by breaking the rules?

THE GUARDIAN CHRONICLES: FORBIDDEN will take you into a world of Guards and Guardians, Light and Darkness. What side will you take?

Sound interesting....... Read the first chapter right here.... http://www.megancurd.com/blog/2011/1/23/the-guardian-chronicles-forbidden-chpt-1.html

Accordance By Shelly Crane

Accordance (Significance, #2)
Title: Accordance

Author: Shelly Crane

Series: Book # 2 of Many

Release Date: September 20, 2011

Source: Book from Author

Shelly Crane’s Website: http://shellycrane.blogspot.com/2011/09/to-feel-paper-between-your-fingers.html

Blurb: In the sequel, Maggie learns much more about all the strange things that happened to her, and has to face new ones. She rebels against it, but ultimately, must face it for her new families’ sake and maybe even her life. Bish went from being her biggest supporter to her biggest pain in the butt and Kyle's intentions to attract her interest may not be so innocent. Caleb and Maggie face many new obstacles together and fight to work through them but will one that should be a good thing be too much for Maggie to handle?

Warning: HOLY COW! This book was so much more than I expected! It was so much more!

My Rating:

My Cover Thoughts: I absolutely love this cover. It is of a tree with leaves growing on it. To me the tree signified a new grow and change for the coming season. Change is always good when you’re with the one you love. The saying on the cover is so true. To become what you’re destined to be, you have to first find out who you are.

My Thoughts/Review: In Significance we found out the Maggie and Caleb had imprinted and are soul mates. She is coming to terms with it but is having a hard time because her best friend Kyle wanted to be more than just friends and was upset that Caleb had imprinted with Maggie when he knew how Kyle had felt about her.

Then there was Marcus who was upset that The Jacobson clan had imprinted at all and to make matters worse it was with a human girl. That was unheard of and it upset Marcus and his uncle. Marcus and his clan had not imprinted and they longed to find their soul mates to. So Marcus decided he would follow his uncle’s advice and help him hurt Maggie so they could stop her from being with Caleb.

In Accordance Maggie is still struggling with her feelings for Caleb and her family. She is still in danger and she just wants to have a normal life with Caleb by having a normal teenage relationship by hanging out, going to the movies and just enjoying Caleb. That is impossible because she and Caleb have gone away for the summer so she does not get hurt again and in leaving they are whisked away to new problems and new advisories.

Maggie is starting to understand her abilities and she is also given some new ones. With Caleb by her side she knows she can do anything but what is a girl to do when she has her older protective brother right by her side. Bish does not really know what is going on between Maggie and Caleb and he does not care. All he knows is that his sister was happy one day with no boyfriend and then he comes home to visit and she can’t seem to stay away from this guy. He is upset and wants to know what is going on and he will stop at nothing to find out. While on his quest he finds he is starting to like someone he does not think he can have. So with all this pent up anger what is a big brother to do?

You add Kyle to the mix and Bish is totally confused. He knows they have been friends since childhood but he is not so sure why Maggie doesn’t like Kyle in that way when it is clear that Kyle loves Maggie and would do anything to be with her. Kyle makes innuendos and passes at Maggie and Caleb would love nothing more than to kill him but Maggie knows what Kyle is doing and that is to make Caleb mad and jealous so he can feel what Kyle feels. Caleb knew Kyle loved Maggie for all these years and now that they are imprinted Kyle has to sit by and watch Caleb win the girl of his dreams.

This story continues on Maggie’s quest to find herself and the truth of what is really going on with the clans. With this quest comes some self searching and her realizing that she is destined to do something great. Can she fulfil the prophecy in time and can she be with Caleb like they were meant to be. Can Maggie help Kyle see what he is doing to her and Caleb is wrong. Can she have her friends and family and still keep this secret she is holding. In the end Maggie must make the ultimate sacrifice. Can she do it??????

Memorable Quotes: Kyle and Maggie at the club where Maggie has just had another vision. There were a couple energy ribbons bouncing behind Beck’s head. Oh no, no! What could I do? Everyone was going to see and I couldn’t stop. My body was too worked up. I looked at Kyle helplessly, knowing there was no way to explain or make him understand. And he looked back knowing there was nothing he could do either. I hid my face and took a deep breath. Kyle pulled my face back to look at him with a hand on my cheek and I didn’t think, I just acted, or reacted rather.

Then I remembered Caleb and I practiced reigning it in and kissing seemed to have worked, so without any thought to consequences for Kyle or me or Caleb, without any wonder to what Beck would think about seeing me kiss Kyle, without any thought at all really except to keep everyone from seeing what I was…

I reached up from my knees on the floor and kissed him.

I held his collar for stability and though Kyle’s mind was shocked and unsure, his hands definitely knew what to do. They snaked themselves around my waist and he had an inkling, an after thought really, that there was more to this. That there was a very good reason I was kissing him that had absolutely nothing to do with my wanting him, but he didn’t give a flip at the moment. This was what he had waited for, for two years and he was going to savor it.

He kissed nothing like Caleb. His lips felt all wrong and nothing like the love I felt all through me when Caleb took my lips. All I saw and felt was Kyle‟s want and desire for me. With Caleb there was love, protection and adoration mixed in with a need to make me happy and comfortable but with Kyle, he was solely focused on the fact that he‟d wanted me for so long and could never have me. That thing inside me that told me what I was doing was so, so wrong was pulsing and screaming uncomfortably. I pulled back, hoping the short kiss had been enough to stop the uncontrollable Visionary in me.

“I’m sorry,” I told him quietly, looking up into his unbridled eyes.

I was losing control. I couldn’t think of anything else to do.”

“Maggie, what happened?” he asked breathlessly.

“I had a…” I looked at Beck sitting there waiting for her own explanation with wide unbelieving eyes and knew I couldn’t give him an answer. Beck’s mind screamed the fact that she was confused at why I was kissing Kyle. “It was nothing.”

Advice: This series is a must read! I love Shelly Crane’s writing style and I love how her story draws you in and you can feel each characters emotion and feel their pain.

She’ll be doomed to walk the earth alone for all eternity.

What will they choose? And who will have to die in order to see their goal accomplished? Find out in the exciting conclusion of the Blood Like Poison series, To Kill An Angel.

Warning: This book is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!

My Rating: 5 of 5 MILLION!

My Cover Thoughts: I absolutely love this cover. Bo is an angel and he has wings that are white with gold in them. He is staring down at something or someone. He is a breath of fresh air on this cover.

My Thoughts/Review: This is the conclusion to The Blood Like Poison series and wow what an ending. When I read a series I never want it to end because I know I am going to miss the characters but I will re-read this series for years to come. This story captivated me right from the beginning because it had angels and fallen angels but it also had a love story that tore at your soul.

It started out with Ridley having some difficulties in her home life but she put on a happy face and went to school and was the perfect daughter. She loved her parents and loved her boyfriend and all she planned was to finish high school and go to Stanford University. All her plans get put on hold when she meets a mysterious guy at school. She is not sure what it is but she knows she needs to be with him.

Then she meets him after school and they hit it off like they have been friends forever. The only thing is, is that she is part of the popular group and they just don’t date anyone. She knows she does not love her boyfriend anymore and when she tries to break it off things don’t go so well. She eventually breaks it off and starts dating Bo. As things start to look good for her and Bo things start to fall apart at home and at school because kids are missing and crazy stuff is starting to happen. Ridley and Bo have to figure out what is happening before it is too late.

In the EPIC and I mean EPIC conclusion Bo and Ridley have to figure out a way to save the world as well as themselves and their relationship. Bo will be tried by some new friends and some old friends. His love will be tested and tried to see if he can withstand the chaos. Ridley will lose things and people she loves but in the end will she withstand the trial and tribulations to get the one prize she has always wanted? That prize is Bo.

You will meet new people that will either help Bo and Ridley or hurt them. Cade is a gorgeous human that looks a little familiar to Ridley but she can’t place it yet. Then there is the BEAUTIFUL Annika. What does she want and why is she there. When Ridley finds out she is not happy at all. Devon is back and is helping his love Savannah. And olalala Lucius in his Irish brogue is still the vampire that every girl *swoons* about! He will make your heart leap out of your chest and leave you standing there wondering what in the hell happened!

She will have to do things she does not want to and she will have to give up the one thing she holds dear to her. She will be tested and tried in ways she never imagined but in the end will it be worth it? This conclusion was EPIC and had me at the edge of my seat and I could not believe the ending! I just loved loved loved it. It was action packed and full of love that will rock you to the core. You are rooting for Bo and Ridley through the whole story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Happy Reading and Happy falling in love with BOAZ!

Memorable Quotes: “So you’ll go to college with me?” “Yes.” “After that, will you help me pick out a house somewhere along the coast, near the water?” “Sure,” I said, deciding it was just better to go along with his fantasy and not shoot holes in it. “And after that, will you help me decorate it?” “Yep.” “And after that will you marry me?” My mouth went bone dry at his question. I could think of nothing I’d like more than to marry Bo. Images of making love with him flitted through my mind and desire flooded my body like molten lava. “Yes, I’ll marry you,” I answered breathlessly. “And after that, will you have a baby with me?” Thoughts of the dark-haired boy I’d imagined rolled through my mind in a wave that eclipsed the other thoughts. “Yes.” “And after that, will you spend eternity with me?” And, just like that, the wind was officially gone from my sails. “I’ll spend eternity loving you,” I said, casting my eyes down to his chin, “and mourning you.” “Why?” he asked coyly. “That’s what you do when the person you love most in the world dies.” “Well, do you plan on killing me off?” “What? Of course not.” “Then you won’t be getting rid of me for many, many lives.” At that, I pushed myself into a sitting position. “What? I mean, how? You’re mortal, aren’t you?” Bo smiled, the kind of smug smile that reminded me of the cat who ate the canary. “Nope.” Despite the knowledge that he’d wanted to be mortal, wanted to be human more than anything, I thrilled at the idea that he wouldn’t leave me, that I wouldn’t have to watch him die. “How? What happened? I thought…” “I made a deal.” “With whom?” “God, of course,” Bo snorted. “What kind of deal?” I asked suspiciously. Bo shrugged. “My mortality for your life.” “What?” “It’s not a big deal.” “Not a big deal? You wanted to be mortal more than anything!” “I wanted to be mortal until I met you. Now, nothing matters except being with you and, as far as that goes, the longer the better.” “But Bo—” “Shh,” he said, pressing his fingertip to my lips this time. “No buts. I thought you’d be happy.” “I am. I mean…I am! I just don’t want you making sacrifices for me.” “You mean like throwing myself in front of a bullet or a train or a…sword made from a feather?” he asked pointedly. “That was different. I knew that you would die if I didn’t.” Bo sat up, too.

Blurb: Ree will face the darkest form of betrayal before the year is out.

Fate, though, has other plans for her. After the untimely death of her older brother, Ree is haunted by dreadful nightmares and terrifying visions. After all, Ree is the only mortal standing between the Earth and utter darkness.

Set in Savannah, Ga, Mortal Obligation is the first book of The Dark Betrayal Trilogy.

Warning: This book is CONTAGIOUS!

My Rating:  5 of 5!

My Cover Thoughts: This cover is awesome! It is of a girl looking at something in the cemetery. She knows something’s there but what it is ..... well you will have to read the book to find out.

My Thoughts/Review: Ree is just your average high school senior just trying to get through school and go on to college. She is in love with her brother’s best friend and wants to tell him but she does not know how. She has bigger problems right now because she has been seeing things but she is not quite sure if they are real until one day she is out with her friends and she is attacked.

After being attacked she finds out that she is not crazy but in fact has been seeing things and wait there’s more she will find out. Ree will question everything she has known and everybody who is around her. She will have to learn to trust people she would never trust.

The world as she knows it is changing and she has a big part to play in it. What will she do? Will she stay and fight or will she run? Will she be able to stand up to the one person that matters most in her life?

One day Ree is normal with a normal life and the next day she is something she has no idea if she even wants to be.

Memorable Quotes: “Ree?” Paden’s voice was very close to her and warm hands travelled over her head and shoulders. “Are you okay, Ree?”

“I’m okay, but Weylin needs help.” Her voice was dull, and she could barely raise it over a whisper.
“Hurry, Paden,” Roland hollered.

“We have to go, Ree. Hold on,” Paden said. Someone took Weylin out of her lap and Paden lifted her into his arms. She groaned as the world spun and he pressed her head against his chest. “Please don’t leave me, Ree. Please don’t.”

Just before she blacked out she felt his lips on her forehead while he mumbled reassurances.

Advice: Must read! You will not be disappointed!
